Dear Tonsina,
This was written after visiting the Tonsina glacier, which I had backpacked for over a week to reach.
Today I sat where you once stood, and I looked at the place you used to inhabit. The signs of the force you once had: the scars on the walls, the divets in the ground, the marks of a powerful being. I watched as life poured out of you: a raging river. You were once so strong, so powerful. Now you are dying, leaving for the ocean. As I stood there watching you go, I understood. Dear Tonsina, you may not regard me as a friend. For more often than not I am the problem and not the solution. However, I regard you as a friend, because the best of friends teach you the hardest lessons. You, have certainly taught me much.
Thank you

Beautiful, Elliott.
